Black Beauty’s mother does not approve of hunting. She believes that horses cannot understand why people enjoy chasing and killing harmless animals. In her opinion, hunting is cruel because it causes fear and suffering to innocent creatures. However, she also reminds Black Beauty that horses must faithfully do the work their masters ask them to do, as they are only horses and cannot change human behaviour.
